H.R. No. 485


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, For a quarter of a century, Esequiel Bermudez has dedicated himself to the care and maintenance of the Sul Ross State University campus in Alpine, and on the occasion of his retirement it is fitting to acknowledge the many contributions of this dedicated Texan; and WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Alpine, "Zeke" Bermudez attended Alpine High School before serving as a fire control crewman with the U.S. Army in Alaska; and WHEREAS, On his return to his hometown, he earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Sul Ross and went to work for Conoco; and WHEREAS, In 1980, Mr. Bermudez joined the staff of his alma mater's physical plant, and since that time has become a familiar and indispensable asset to the day-to-day operation of the school; and WHEREAS, Whether building, repairing, or renovating, he has brought to every aspect of his work the same commitment to excellence, benefiting countless members of the university community; and WHEREAS, Throughout his endeavors, Mr. Bermudez has drawn strength and inspiration from his family, including his wife, Norma; their children, Cindy Bermudez, Krisinda Calderon, Merced Bermudez, Eddie Bermudez, and Raulito Rojo Ramos; and their grandchildren, Geoffrey and Logan Calderon; and WHEREAS, Although his colleagues are sorry to see Mr. Bermudez go, his influence will long be felt in the rooms and buildings of Sul Ross, where people from all walks of life daily enjoy the results of his careful craftsmanship; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Esequiel Bermudez on the occasion of his retirement from Sul Ross State University and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Bermudez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
