H.R. No. 489



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, The World Championship Wild Game and BBQ Cook-off, 
which is taking place on May 12 and 13, 2006, at Pier 21 of the 
Strand Historic District in Galveston, has become a highly 
anticipated annual event for residents and visitors alike; and
	WHEREAS, Now in its 10th year, this fun-filled gathering 
attracts thousands of participants and spectators from across Texas 
each spring; and
	WHEREAS, Sponsored by Yaga's Children's Fund, the cook-off 
benefits such vital charitable organizations as Gulf Coast Big 
Brothers and Big Sisters, the Child Advocacy Center, the Hope 
Foundation for Retarded Children, and Ronald McDonald House of 
Galveston; and
	WHEREAS, In addition to enjoying the competition, attendees 
can participate in a silent auction, view the Friday night 
fireworks display, and experience an array of tasty food; and
	WHEREAS, For the past decade, the organizers of the World 
Championship Wild Game and BBQ Cook-off have served up a 
Texas-sized helping of fun and entertainment, while also raising 
money for children in need, and this enjoyable Lone Star tradition 
truly merits special recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the Yaga's 
Children's Fund 10th Annual World Championship Wild Game and BBQ 
Cook-off and extend to all those involved best wishes for a 
memorable event; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for organizers of the event as an expression of high regard 
by the Texas House of Representatives.
