R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, William John Makar of The Woodlands has brought
great pride to his family, his school, and his community with his
appearance on the hit series American Idol; and
WHEREAS, Auditioning for the program in Austin, this talented
17-year-old bested thousands of hopefuls to earn a spot on the
show's finals in Hollywood; there, Mr. Makar made it to the top 16
of the contestants, performing before an estimated 30 million
television viewers and earning compliments from the show's judges
for his maturity and graciousness; and
WHEREAS, A sophomore at The Woodlands College Park High
School, Mr. Makar has been entertaining audiences since the age of
five; he honed his gift as a member of the Houston Children's
Chorus, which gave him the opportunity to sing backup with a select
group for a Celine Dion concert and to perform for Presidents
Clinton and Bush; he later trained with vocal coach Tom McKinney,
became lead singer for the band Last Born, and participated in
several high school musicals; and
WHEREAS, Will Makar has won legions of fans across the
country and he stands on the threshold of what will surely be a
bright and rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate William John
Makar for his achievements on American Idol and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Makar as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
