R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, June 26, 2006, is a memorable milestone indeed in the life of Herman Hicks Bolton, for it marks this remarkable Texan's 80th birthday; and WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Mr. Bolton attended Lamar High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, and he served in the Pacific during World War II; and WHEREAS, On returning home, he graduated from Lamar and attended the University of Houston; he has remained a proud Cougar since that time; and WHEREAS, In 1957, Mr. Bolton married his wife, Ludelle, and for almost five decades the two have enjoyed a relationship that has grown in mutual admiration and been made even richer by the arrival of their children, Valinda Ann and Mark Judson; and WHEREAS, A dedicated churchgoer, Mr. Bolton has served on innumerable committees as an active member of South Main Baptist Church in Houston for 52 years, and today he is a deacon at Elkins Lake Baptist Church, where he is active in the prison ministry and is a valued member of the congregation; and WHEREAS, Retired since 1986 from Chicago Title Company, he has made community involvement a hallmark of his life, and the Westbury Little League, Westbury Fun Football, and the Stomping Saints Square Dancing Club are among the groups to have enjoyed his involvement; this former president of the Elkins Lake Community Association is also an avid golfer and can often be found on the links perfecting his game; and WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Herman Bolton has brought enthusiasm, good humor, and dedication to all his endeavors, and it is most fitting to celebrate his many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Herman Hicks Bolton on his 80th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Bolton as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
