R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, It is with great sorrow that the Texas House of
Representatives notes the passing of an outstanding Texas
Department of Transportation employee, Juan D. Martinez, of the
Taylor Area Office, who died at the age of 59 on August 9, 2005, in
the line of duty; and
       WHEREAS, The members of this chamber wish to join his family,
friends, and fellow workers in mourning the loss of this remarkable
native Texan who dedicated his life to his family and career; and
       WHEREAS, A religious and hard-working man, Mr. Martinez was
born March 30, 1946, in Rosenberg, and was a distinguished employee
of the department for 19 years; and
       WHEREAS, His enthusiasm for life led to his interest in many
diverse areas, including the restoration and rehabilitation of
automobiles; and
       WHEREAS, This highly respected employee was a devoted husband
and son, as well as a loving friend to all, and he was recognized as
a sincere man of honor and integrity; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez always enjoyed laughing and spending
time with the neighborhood children; he was lovingly referred to by
his friends and family as "Tata," and he will long be fondly
remembered by all those who were fortunate enough to know him; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Juan D. Martinez and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
family, including his wife of 29 years, Teresa Martinez; and, be it
further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Juan
D. Martinez.
