R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Jimmy M. Ross of Quitaque is being installed as
president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at a
ceremony in Boston, Massachusetts, in July 2006; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Lions Club since 1969, Mr. Ross has
devoted much of his life to community and international service;
throughout the years, he has held numerous leadership positions,
including club president, lieutenant district governor, district
secretary, state membership and extension chairperson, district
convention chairperson, district council chairperson, and
international director; he was elected as first vice president of
the association in 2005; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has been recognized by the
association with two District Governor Appreciation Awards, seven
International President's Awards, and the International Ambassador
of Good Will Award; moreover, he is a member of the Texas Lions Hall
of Fame; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of West Texas A&M University, Mr. Ross is
a retired judge and businessman who is deeply committed to his
Panhandle community; he has served on numerous boards, including
Water Control and Improvement District, Lighthouse Electric Co-op,
and District Juvenile Probation, to name but a few; in all his many
endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife of 26 years,
Velda, and their three daughters, Julie, Janet, and Sammie-Dee; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated citizen and a dynamic member of the
Lions Club, Jimmy M. Ross has earned the respect and admiration of
all those who are privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Jimmy M. Ross on the
occasion of his installation as president of The International
Association of Lions Clubs and extend to him sincere best wishes for
continued success and happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ross as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
