R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The well-being of the people of Texas depends on
economic prosperity throughout the state, and independent
businesses that employ Texans and contribute to local trade and
industry are important components of a healthy economy and a
successful future; and
WHEREAS, Edwards Abstract and Title Company, a vital South
Texas business, is celebrating the groundbreaking of its new
headquarters in Edinburg on May 16, 2006; and
WHEREAS, This year also marks the 80th anniversary of the
incorporation of Edwards Abstract and Title Company; founded by
Judge J. H. Edwards in 1880, the business has served the needs of
residents of the Rio Grande Valley for more than a century;
customers are offered a number of helpful products and services,
including title commitment, insurance, and reports, and escrow,
tax, and closing services at locations in Edinburg, McAllen,
Weslaco, Mission, and Sharyland Plantation; and
WHEREAS, The new facility will further cater to the needs of
local residents as home to the law firm of Lewis, Monroe, and Pena,
Edinburg Escrow Branch Office, and Edwards Title Plant; and
WHEREAS, Edwards Abstract and Title Company has enriched the
lives of the residents of the Rio Grande Valley by serving many
local leading businesses and industries, by employing many area
Texans who share in the success of the company, and by helping those
individuals who are interested in owning their own homes; and
WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized
this notable company by authoring this resolution in its behalf
during the 3rd Called Session of the 79th Texas Legislature; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the
groundbreaking of the new Edwards Abstract and Title Company
headquarters in Edinburg and extend to all those associated with
the business best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
