R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The many scholastic and personal accomplishments of Suzanne Mereille Palacios have made her a source of tremendous pride to her family and community; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Juan "Sonny" Palacios, Jr., and Angelica Feliz Palacios, Suzanne Palacios was born with Reiger's Syndrome, which caused glaucoma and reduced her vision; undaunted by these challenges, she has excelled in academics, learning to read by the age of three, earning recognition for her outstanding achievement in reading, math, language, and spelling in the first grade, and testing into the gifted and talented and accelerated reader programs; and WHEREAS, Currently in the third grade at Freddy Gonzalez Elementary School, this notable nine-year-old is active in UIL and the Technology Club and recently had a poem published in The Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans; she is a valued member of Girl Scout Troop 12 and enjoys participating in the Children's Choir at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen; and WHEREAS, Her rare enthusiasm and dedication distinguish Miss Palacios as one of our state's outstanding youth, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor her as she faces what will undoubtedly be a rewarding future; and WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly recognized this fine young Texan by passing this resolution in her behalf during the 3rd Called Session of the 79th Texas Legislature; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Suzanne Mereille Palacios on her many achievements and extend to her best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Miss Palacios as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
