H.R. No. 531
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of David Michael Massie of
Seagoville have been deeply saddened by his untimely passing on
April 30, 2006, at the age of 50; and
WHEREAS, Born on September 27, 1955, in Seagoville, Mr.
Massie received a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's
degree in education administration from Texas A&M
University--Commerce; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was a local business owner, a
Christian school administrator, and an accountant over the course
of 25 years; he had served on the city council, as mayor pro
tempore, and as a member of the economic development board, and he
shared his faith with the congregation of First Baptist Church,
Sunnyvale, as a Bible teacher and ordained deacon; and
WHEREAS, In his leisure hours, Mr. Massie was a golfer who
liked collecting NASCAR and Texas Longhorn memorabilia,
commemorative coins, and Christian-based books; he also enjoyed the
companionship of his beloved dog, Buddy Boy; and
WHEREAS, David Massie demonstrated inspiring compassion,
wit, and unfailing determination in his daily life, and his memory
will be carried in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have
shared in his love and friendship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
David Michael Massie and extend deepest sympathy to the members of
his family: to his wife of 26 years, Michele; to his parents, Harold
and Shirley Massie; to his brothers, Paul and Dennis Massie; to his
sisters, Terri Gant, June Stone, and Susan Hardie and her husband,
Curtis; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of David
Michael Massie.
