R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, No words can soften the blow of a young life cut
short, and it is with great sadness that we join in mourning the
passing of Allison Ann Bucy on April 21, 2006, at the age of 23; and
WHEREAS, A native Houstonian, Ms. Bucy was a champion debater
at Midway High School before going on to earn a bachelor's degree in
government from The University of Texas; and
WHEREAS, At the time of her death, she was living and working
in Washington, D.C., and her courage and positive outlook in the
face of a devastating disease were an inspiration to all who knew
her; the grace and grit with which Ms. Bucy met adversity have
sharpened her community's sense of loss; and
WHEREAS, Her keen intelligence and engaging personality
brightened the lives of her family and friends, and all who were
fortunate enough to have known this remarkable young woman will
remember her with tenderness and affection as they cherish their
memories of time spent in her company; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Allison Ann Bucy and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her
family: to her parents, the Honorable Jim Meyer and Carolyn Meyer
and Flynn and Lorraine Bucy; to her grandparents, Dr. James Cole and
Helen Cole, Dr. Ralph Bucy and Dr. June Bucy, Paul and Jane Meyer,
and Walter and Marylu Raushenbush; to her siblings, Cole Bucy,
Jason Bucy, Mike Meyer, Brady Meyer, Johnny Bucy, and Elizabeth
Bucy; and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Allison Ann
Bucy.
