R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Members of the eighth-grade class of St. Joseph Catholic School in Edinburg are celebrating the joyous occasion of their graduation, which is taking place on May 26, 2006; and WHEREAS, This notable event serves not only as the first of many milestones in the educational careers of its honorees, but also as a chance to pay tribute to all those associated with the school who work to uphold the highest educational standards; and WHEREAS, St. Joseph Catholic School was founded in 1954 by Father O'Connell, the pastor of St. Joseph Parish; dedicated to providing a family-oriented Christian environment where students develop intellectually, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, the school today has refurbished facilities, a new computer room, and an Evangelization Center and teaches classes from prekindergarten to the eighth grade; students are offered an expansive curriculum and a wealth of extracurricular activities; and WHEREAS, Students of the graduating class include Edgar Aldape, Joshua Cole, Jose Delgado, Frankie Enriquez, Katy Garcia, Mona Head, Joseph Martinez, Yvette Montalvo, Austin Myers, Alyssa Pena, Alice Regalado, Adrian Sepulveda, Derek Valdez, Natasha Vargas, Raul Villarreal, and Richie Villarreal; and WHEREAS, The faculty and staff of St. Joseph Catholic School have displayed a firm commitment to helping the children of today become the leaders of tomorrow, and the 2006 eighth-grade graduates are representative of this fine institution's commitment to academic excellence; and WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Pena has justly acknowledged the eighth-grade students of St. Joseph Catholic School by authoring this resolution in their behalf during the 3rd Called Session of the 79th Texas Legislature; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the eighth-grade students of St. Joseph Catholic School on their graduation and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success in all of their endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the class as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
