R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt at the loss of U.S. Army Sergeant Johnny Joe Peralez, Jr., of Falfurrias, who died in Iraq on January 5, 2006, at the age of 25; and WHEREAS, Sergeant Peralez served as a combat medic with the 3rd Battalion, 16th Field Artillery, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division; since joining the military in 1999, he had served tours in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq; and WHEREAS, Born and reared in the Lone Star State, Sergeant Peralez graduated from Falfurrias High School, where he was a member of the Fightin' Jersey boys' tennis squad and participated in the band, student council, and one-act plays; and WHEREAS, A man who gave his best effort to everything he cared about, this courageous Texan performed his dangerous mission with dedication and professionalism; his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and his country reflected the highest ideals of the armed forces, and his fellow citizens owe him a debt of gratitude that the passage of time can never diminish; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay special tribute to the life of Sergeant Johnny Joe Peralez, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his mother, Virginia Garcia; to his father, Johnny J. Peralez, Sr.; to his grandmother, Carmen Arellano; to his sister, Nina Kristine Peralez; to his brothers, Romeo Villa and Jessie Rene Peralez; to his grandparents, Pedro Vasquez and Joe and Tomasa Peralez; to his girlfriend, Luisa Reyes; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Sergeant Johnny Joe Peralez, Jr.
