R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Amador Villalobos were
deeply saddened by the passing of this esteemed gentleman on March
9, 2006, at the age of 80; and
WHEREAS, Born on February 16, 1926, Mr. Villalobos had to
leave school early to go to work; in 1946, he enlisted in the U.S.
Army and later joined the U.S. Air Force, where he reached the rank
of corporal, and for his service, he received the World War II
Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal in Japan; on November 4,
1951, he married his sweetheart, Ana Maria Samaniego, and they had
six children; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Villalobos was an astute businessman who owned
and operated two gasoline stations in Fabens; fulfilling his life's
dream, he also opened Amador's Beer Garden and Grocery, which he ran
until his retirement; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of his community and avid sports
fan, Mr. Villalobos served as president and acting manager of the
Fabens Merchants Baseball Club and remained active in Fabens high
school football where he received the honor of "Coach of the Week"
numerous times; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Villalobos also participated in local politics,
working in every election and making a meaningful contribution to
the electoral process; and
WHEREAS, A devoted family man and successful businessman, Mr.
Villalobos will be missed not only by his family but also by his
many friends throughout the community to which he contributed so
greatly; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Amador Villalobos and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
family: to his wife, Ana Maria; to his children, Ray, David,
Bertha, and Ana; to his grandchildren: Diana, Laura, and David
"Rudy," James, Bobbi, Jennifer, and Jeffrey, and Steven, Matthew,
and Amanda; to his great-granddaughter, Emery Elizabeth; and to his
other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Amador
Villalobos.
