H.R. No. 614


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Ricardo "Ricky" Estrada of Dallas has profoundly saddened his loved ones and many friends in Dallas and the community of Tornillo, where he spent much of his life; and WHEREAS, Born to Ricardo and Rosario Estrada, Mr. Estrada spent his first few years in California, moving with his family to El Paso County at the age of six; his family and close friends meant the world to Ricky, and he took great pride in his role as big brother to sisters Mayra, Susana, and Yesenia; and WHEREAS, A stellar athlete, Ricky played basketball and football and ran track; he received recognition for his gridiron skills as a Coyote when he was named All-District lineman in high school and was accorded many honors for his discus and shot-put skills as well; after graduating with the Tornillo High School Class of 2002, he enrolled at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, and soon moved to Dallas to continue his education; and WHEREAS, Ricky inspired loyalty in those who cared for him, and his return trips to his hometown occasioned a large gathering of family and friends, most of whom sported nicknames dreamed up by this irrepressible young man; in addition to socializing, he enjoyed movies, bowling, and video games; and WHEREAS, Although his time here on earth ended far too soon, Ricky Estrada brought great joy into the lives of those who shared in his love and friendship, and his memory will forever endure in their hearts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Ricardo "Ricky" Estrada and extend deepest sympathy to his parents, Ricardo and Rosario Estrada; to his sisters, Mayra, Susana, and Yesenia; and to all who mourn the passing of this beloved young man; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ricardo Estrada.
