R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Five decades of marriage is truly an occasion for
celebration, and on July 28, 2006, Melvin and Dorothy Durst of
Fredericksburg are observing their 50th wedding anniversary; and
WHEREAS, It was love at first sight for Melvin Albert Durst
and Dorothy Mae Esquell when they met in 1955 at a dance at Spring
Creek Hall in Gillespie County; they were married the following
year at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Harper; following a
honeymoon in Carlsbad, New Mexico, the newlyweds settled in
Fredericksburg, at the Durst family farm, where they have lived
throughout their marriage; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Durst take great pride in their
children, David James Durst and Carol Amy Rode Durst, Elgin August
Durst and Kim Andri Meier Durst, Karen Ann Durst Newman and James
Bruce Newman, and Daniel Henry Durst, and they have delightedly
welcomed two more generations into their family, including
grandchildren Christine Marie Durst Duecker and her husband,
Barrett Duecker, Tiffany Helena Durst, Rachael Ann Durst, Amber
Michelle Durst, Bradley Melvin Durst, Lyle Owen Durst, Derek
Stanley Durst, Scott Richmond Durst, Shae Nicole Durst, Blake
Clayborn Durst, Justin Henry Durst, Heath James Hamilton and his
wife, Rachel Gean Hamilton, Jared Wade Hamilton, Miles Wayne Durst,
Mason Scott Durst, and the late Madelynn Marie Durst, and
great-grandson Austin James Hamilton; and
WHEREAS, Members of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 50 years,
this devoted couple share many interests, including dancing and
watching their grandchildren play various sports; Mrs. Durst also
enjoys working in her garden, while Mr. Durst enjoys ranching,
farming, fishing, and hunting; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of half a century, Mr. and Mrs. Durst
have experienced the myriad joys and challenges of marriage and
parenthood, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor them; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Melvin and
Dorothy Durst on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to
them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Durst as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
