H.R. No. 626
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Girl Scout Troop 347 of El Paso participated in
Daisy Day, a biennial celebration honoring Girl Scouts founder
Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low, on April 8, 2006; and
WHEREAS, A 20-year local tradition, Daisy Day features
crafts, performances, demonstrations, and other activities, all
centered around a humanitarian theme, and the event is attended by
Girl Scouts of the Rio Grande, which covers eight counties; members
of Troop 347 contributed to the event with a program explaining how
plants native to the region encourage conservation because they
require so little water; and
WHEREAS, Committed to serving its community, Troop 347
regularly takes part in a variety of charitable endeavors; troop
members have raised money and collected blankets and shampoo for
the Humane Society and have taught arts and crafts to area senior
citizens at a retirement center; and
WHEREAS, Troop members include Emma Warnock, Hannah Warnock,
Kayla Valdez, and Emily Lounder, and it is a pleasure to recognize
these accomplished young women and their contributions to Daisy Day
and the El Paso community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the members of Girl
Scout Troop 347 of El Paso for their dedication to community service
and extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the troop as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
