R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The family and friends of David Dozier II were deeply saddened by his passing on April 29, 2006, at the age of 60, and we join them in mourning their loss; and WHEREAS, A resident of Kerrville since 1992, Mr. Dozier distinguished himself as a valued member of the community; a dedicated advocate for students and teachers, he was elected to the Kerrville ISD board in 2000; he was appointed vice president two years later, and since 2005, he had served as president; at the time of his death, Mr. Dozier was running for reelection, and his singular dedication to this important work even while facing a fatal illness was an inspiration to all those who knew him; and WHEREAS, Mr. Dozier also generously gave of his time and talent to the Kerr County Central Appraisal District, the Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Kerrville Economic Development Foundation, the Hill Country College Fund, the Noon Rotary Club, the YMCA, and the Museum of Western Art; and WHEREAS, Before retiring to Kerrville 14 years ago, Mr. Dozier spent most of his professional life in Houston, where he worked as a civil engineer; even then, he and his family spent many summers in Kerrville, finding great joy in the Hill Country scenery and the friendly small-town community; and WHEREAS, In bidding farewell to this fine man, Mr. Dozier's family, friends, and many admirers may take solace in the fact that his was truly a life well lived, and the positive contributions he made during his years in Kerr County will continue to resonate in the Kerrville community for years to come; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of David Dozier II and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Pat; to his children, David and Jacqueline; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of David Dozier.
