R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The passing of Lorenzo Pacheco Armendariz of Fabens on March 7, 2006, has brought a profoundly felt loss to the family and friends of this beloved man; and WHEREAS, Born in Mexico on April 15, 1925, Mr. Armendariz grew up with his godparents on a cattle ranch in the Chihuahua desert, where he developed his lifelong passion for raising cattle; he moved to the United States when he was a teenager, and he lived in La Isla and worked for Rawls farm for more than a decade; and WHEREAS, In 1955, he married Genoveva Romero Belmonte, with whom he would have seven children; the couple moved to Fabens, where Mr. Armendariz was employed by Farmers Cotton gin, SWIG Compress, and the Fabens Delinting Plant over the next 10 years; in 1964, he began a new career as an independent farm contractor, and he subcontracted to farmers throughout Fabens and the surrounding valleys for more than 15 years; he went to work for the State of Texas in 1980 and retired eight years later; and WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Lorenzo Armendariz will remember his dedication to his family and his friends and his love of ranching and the cowboy way of life; although he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lorenzo Pacheco Armendariz and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Genoveva; to his children; and to his other family members and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lorenzo Pacheco Armendariz.
