H.R. No. 664



R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Kristin Audrey Malone of Sugar Land touched 
countless lives with her kindness and dedication before her 
untimely death on October 23, 2005, at the age of 32; and
	WHEREAS, Born August 6, 1973, to Hollie Malone and Holly 
Gardner Garrett, Kristin Malone graduated from Alief Hastings High 
School in Houston in 1991; she earned a bachelor's degree in English 
in 1996 from Texas Tech University and went on to become a 
much-loved English teacher at Memorial High School in Houston; 
named "Teacher of the Year" her second year there, Ms. Malone 
continued teaching while she earned her master's degree in 
education from the University of Houston; and
	WHEREAS, In the fall of 2002, this esteemed educator joined 
the staff of Spring Woods High School in Houston, where, as 
principal for the senior class of 2006, she guided and encouraged 
more than 400 students from the time they were freshmen; known for 
taking a genuine interest in her students' lives, she went above and 
beyond her classroom and administrative duties to make each one 
feel special; whether she was teaching, cheering the softball team, 
supporting the band, or simply monitoring the halls, her beautiful 
smile and ready humor brightened every occasion; and
	WHEREAS, A person of deep faith, Ms. Malone was a treasured 
member of Second Baptist Church and secretary of a weekly Bible 
study class; she was also active with Camp Spike 'n' Wave, a 
weeklong summer camp in Burton for children with epilepsy, and in 
her leisure time, she enjoyed visiting with family and friends and 
especially appreciated the company of her dog, Scooter; and
	WHEREAS, Rarely does one encounter such heartfelt enthusiasm 
and generosity of spirit as that of Kristin Malone, and those who 
were privileged to know her will forever treasure their memories of 
her; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of 
Kristin Audrey Malone and extend deepest sympathy to the members of 
her family: to her mother and stepfather, Holly and Gary Garrett; to 
her father and stepmother, Hollie and Diane Malone; to her sister, 
Erin Malone Kramer; to her grandmothers, Lorraine Gardner and 
Virginia Kelly; to her niece, Faith Kramer; to her nephew, Dylan 
Kramer; to her special friend, Jay Lewis; and to her other relatives 
and many friends; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of 
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kristin 
Audrey Malone.
