H.R. No. 666


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Chris Barcus of Houston has completed the demanding requirements for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, and his accomplishment has been duly recognized at a Court of Honor held at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS, A dedicated member of Boy Scout Troop 604, Mr. Barcus has shared his leadership in the posts of patrol leader and senior patrol leader, and he has further served his fellow scouts as troop historian and editor of the group's newsletter; moreover, he has helped out at scouting events and given generously of his time wherever he may be of assistance; and WHEREAS, An honors student at Jersey Village High School and a member of the International Thespian Society, Eagle Scout Barcus was named a "Fabulous Freshman" by his school's drama club; in addition to earning accolades for his academic achievements, this impressive young man has also been accorded honors for his performances in theater tournaments and festivals; and WHEREAS, His myriad contributions to his church include volunteering as an acolyte and audio-visual technician for St. Stephen's UMC worship services, participating in youth mission teams and in the UMARMY, and serving as a member of the staff-parish committee and as a youth representative for a building campaign; and WHEREAS, The son of Dan and Susan Barcus, Chris Barcus is an inspiring role model for all young Texans for his myriad achievements and his unwavering commitment to his goals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Chris Barcus on becoming an Eagle Scout and extend to him heartfelt best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Eagle Scout Barcus as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
