R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is indeed a significant
milestone in the lives of two people, and on April 8, 2006, Bill and
Sarah Newcomb commemorated this special occasion; and
WHEREAS, United in matrimony on April 8, 1956, at Forest
Heights Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Newcomb
are the parents of six children, Jeanne Robinson, David Newcomb,
William Newcomb, Janice Thomas, Terry Neff, and the late Nathan
Newcomb; moreover, they have shared in the joy of welcoming into
their family 11 grandchildren and six great–grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, The Newcombs lived in New Mexico before moving to
the Permian Basin in 1977; Mr. Newcomb worked in the tire business
for 32 years, including 10 years managing the local Goodyear store;
Mrs. Newcomb was employed with the Texico School in Texico, New
Mexico, and with Texas Instruments in Midland; and
WHEREAS, For more than half a century, this devoted couple
have shared an enduring union, filling each other's lives with many
happy times and cherished family memories, and it is a pleasure to
honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Bill and Sarah
Newcomb on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Newcomb as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
