R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Dr. Colleen Smith has been named the 10th president 
of Cisco Junior College and she also has the distinction of being 
the first woman in the institution's history to serve in this 
position; and
	WHEREAS, Selected by the presidential search committee for 
her proven ability and experience, Dr. Smith will undoubtedly 
nurture the growth and development of Cisco Junior College and the 
school's new campus in Abilene; and
	WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Woman's University, she 
previously worked with Western Wyoming Community College and has 
served as vice president of instruction at Cisco Junior College 
since 2003; she has also served as a private consultant on teaching 
and learning to both her U.S. and Canadian colleagues during her 
notable 25-year career; and
	WHEREAS, Faculty, administrators, and students of Cisco 
Junior College have been impressed by the commitment to excellence 
that has become a trademark of Dr. Smith, and the active support of 
these individuals will undoubtedly help her succeed in her new 
position; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Dr. Colleen Smith on 
her appointment as president of Cisco Junior College and extend to 
her best wishes for success in her new post; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Dr. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
