R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family and friends of Jesse Weaver Uresti of San
Antonio are mourning his passing on April 26, 2006, at the age of
78; and
WHEREAS, Born on February 10, 1928, Jesse Uresti served his
country as a member of the U.S. Army for a year, during which time he
was stationed in Italy; and
WHEREAS, Although circumstances forced Mr. Uresti to begin
working at a young age, he possessed an entrepreneurial spirit that
led to three successful businesses; in 1954, he started the
Tortilla Factory in Fort Worth, which eventually supplied tortillas
to restaurants and grocery stores all over Texas, as well as other
states; his next venture, Uresti Camper Sales, grew out of the
first; to keep from losing thousands of packages of tortillas, he
built a camper shell for the back of his truck; he soon found
himself building them for others and to keep up with the demand, he
hired a manufacturer; he also owned Duncan Cafeteria in Fort Worth
for several years; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Uresti was devoted to his wife of 56 years,
Susie, with whom he raised three daughters and two sons and welcomed
10 grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Throughout a life rich in accomplishment, Jesse
Uresti cherished his family above all; although he will be deeply
missed, memories of his love and affection may comfort those who
held him dear; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Jesse Weaver Uresti and extend sincere sympathy to the members of
his family: to his wife, Susie G. Uresti; to his daughters and
sons-in-law, Susan Tam and her husband, William, Camille Gibson and
her husband, Eric, and Terry Botkin and her husband, Eric; to his
sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse Uresti, Jr., and his wife, Mary,
and Isaac Uresti and his wife, Maureen; to his grandchildren, Billy
Tam, Corey and Chad Armstrong, Isaac Gibson, Naomi, Katy, Patrick,
Keaton, and Jordan Uresti, and Tara Winter; to his brothers, Andrew
and Oscar Uresti; to his sisters, Lupe Rodriguez and Theresa
Sorola; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jesse
Uresti.
