R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, China Spring residents Alphonse Joe "A. J." and
Mildred Louise "Mickey" Uptmore observed the joyous occasion of
their 60th wedding anniversary on April 27, 2006; and
WHEREAS, To commemorate this special event, the Uptmores were
the guests of honor at a reception held on April 29, 2006, at the
First Baptist Church in China Spring; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Uptmore and the former Mildred Herbelin were
united in matrimony in 1946 in Waco; they have been residents of
China Spring since 1948 and have been blessed with three children,
Danny Uptmore and his wife, Vicki, Terry Uptmore and his wife,
Danida, and Brenda Uptmore Smith and her husband, Jerry, as well as
a host of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Uptmore was in the U.S. Army in World War II and
received a Purple Heart for his service on Guadalcanal; he is a
retired farmer and has served on the China Spring ISD board, the
McLennan County REA board, and the Double Circle Co-op board; Mrs.
Uptmore is a member of the China Spring Civic Club and the Senior
Club, and both have been active in the First Baptist and Grace
Baptist Churches, where she has taught Sunday school and he has
served as a deacon, teacher, and choir member; and
WHEREAS, The enduring union of A. J. and Mickey Uptmore is a
source of inspiration to all those with whom they have shared the
richness of their lives, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor them;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate A. J. and
Mickey Uptmore on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them
best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Uptmore as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
