H.R. No. 684
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The 50th wedding anniversary of a devoted husband
and wife is truly a reason for celebration, and in April 2006,
Leonard and Leellyn Simpson of Robinson observed this special
milestone in their long and happy marriage; and
WHEREAS, Brought together by mutual friends, Mr. Simpson and
the former Leellyn Watson met for the first time in Raymondville in
1950; following a second date five years later, romance blossomed,
and the couple exchanged vows on April 21, 1956, settling in
Harlingen, where both their children, Leonard and Lisa, were born;
and
WHEREAS, In 1961, they moved their family to Robinson, where
they continue to make their home; Mr. and Mrs. Simpson enjoy a full
life together, made richer by the addition of a daughter-in-law,
Claire, and a granddaughter, Morgan, as well as by their fellowship
with the congregation of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, An alumna of Baylor University, Mrs. Simpson enjoyed
a teaching career with Waco ISD, while Mr. Simpson started his own
business, Leonard's Truck Parts & Equipment, Inc., which he
continues to operate today; and
WHEREAS, For half a century, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson have shared
life's trials and triumphs hand in hand, and it is indeed a pleasure
to honor them for their enduring union; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Leonard and
Leellyn Simpson on their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to
them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Simpson as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
