H.R. No. 690


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Becky Whitenack of Longview was installed as Lions Club District 2x2 governor in ceremonies held on April 29, 2006, in Marshall; and WHEREAS, A member of Lions International since 1989, when she joined the Fort Worth River Oaks Lions Club, Mrs. Whitenack moved to the Longview area in 1995 and transferred to the Judson Lions Club; she was elected to various offices in each club and amplified her volunteerism through endeavors at the district and state level; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Whitenack has been district chair for the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum, served as state chair for the promotion of that binational forum, and was appointed to the host committee for the 2002 forum held in her hometown of Fort Worth; she has completed two terms as director of the Texas Lions Camp, held the office of cabinet secretary, and most recently served as vice district governor; and WHEREAS, In recognition of her exemplary efforts as a Lion, Mrs. Whitenack has been accorded accolades including the International Presidential Leadership Award and two International President's Certificates of Appreciation, a Melvin Jones Fellowship, a Progressive Jack Welch Fellowship, and a Top Ten Percent Campaign SightFirst Award; furthermore, she has received a Life Membership and a Century Club Membership to the Texas Lions Camp; and WHEREAS, Married to Brian Whitenack, a fellow Lion and past district governor she met at an organization training class, she is the devoted mother of five-year-old Kasey; the family worships at First Christian Church of Longview, and Mrs. Whitenack is employed as the administrative secretary with Winterfield United Methodist Church; and WHEREAS, Through her affiliation with Lions International, Becky Whitenack has diligently worked for the betterment of her community and the world, and her dedication to the goals of this worthy organization has indeed improved the lives of countless individuals; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Becky Whitenack on her installation as Lions Club District 2x2 governor and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mrs. Whitenack as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
