H.R. No. 695
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, On May 9 the Salado High School Lady Eagles golf team
reached the pinnacle of success by winning the University
Interscholastic League Class 2A state championship for 2006; and
WHEREAS, Demonstrating the poise and skill of true champions,
the Lady Eagles held off a determined team from Wall High School in
the final round, claiming the title by two strokes; and
WHEREAS, The final victory was representative of the
exceptional play the Salado squad has exhibited all season long;
paced by outstanding rounds from Sarah Dowell, Lacey Bartlett, and
Veronica Patockova, the Lady Eagles also relied on quality
performances from all of their other golfers in registering their
dramatic victory; special notice is also due coach Bobby Peschel,
whose instruction and inspiration were key factors in Salado's
championship season; and
WHEREAS, This achievement is the latest of many golf triumphs
for Salado High School, which is building a reputation as one of the
state's finest schools for the sport; the Lady Eagles have claimed
the state title four times, having won three of those championships
since 2003; and
WHEREAS, In winning the 2006 title, the Lady Eagle golfers
have brought great honor to their school and to the city of Salado,
and this accomplishment will undoubtedly remain a cherished memory
for all members of the team, as well as for their classmates and
families; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Salado
High School girls' golf team and coach Bobby Peschel for winning the
UIL Class 2A state championship for 2006 and extend to the Lady
Eagles sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
