H.R. No. 704


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Katherine Ann Fillmore is celebrating a significant milestone in her life in May 2006 when she graduates from The University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in advertising; and WHEREAS, Ms. Fillmore's achievement is all the more noteworthy in that she is graduating with an overall grade point average of 3.9; named a College of Communications Distinguished College Scholar, her diligent efforts have also earned her the Press Club of Dallas Scholarship and placement on the Dean's List; and WHEREAS, During the course of her studies, she gained valuable experience working for Representative Gary Elkins, where she demonstrated dedication and a strong work ethic in her positions as a legislative intern and legislative aide; and WHEREAS, Successfully balancing the rigorous demands of work and school, Ms. Fillmore participated in a number of extracurricular activities, including Student Government, UT SEES, Young Conservatives, and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority; and WHEREAS, She has also served her community, volunteering her time and talents to benefit such worthy groups as SafePlace, Easter Seals, and the HOSTS program, and she was a volunteer tutor, mentor, and translator at Metz Elementary School in Austin; and WHEREAS, Katherine Fillmore is an impressive young woman whose commitment, enthusiasm, and perseverance typify the finest qualities of this nation's next generation of leaders, and it is a pleasure to recognize her as she prepares to embark on an exciting new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Katherine Ann Fillmore on her graduation from The University of Texas and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Fillmore as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
