R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, During her distinguished high school athletic career, Elizabeth Laubenberg has established a stellar record of achievement in track and field competition; and WHEREAS, A senior at Plano Prestonwood Christian Academy, Liz Laubenberg has been an active and valued member of the school's track and field program since her freshman year, and she has qualified for the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools' (TAPPS) state track meet in each of her four years; and WHEREAS, Ms. Laubenberg won the state title in the 100-meter girls' hurdles in both her freshman and sophomore years, and on May 6, 2006, she again claimed the TAPPS state championship for the 100-meter girls' hurdles, while also winning the 300-meter girls' hurdles; and WHEREAS, In recognition of her exceptional athleticism and unwavering commitment to excellence, Ms. Laubenberg earned the Female Athlete of the Year award as a freshman and sophomore; in her junior year, she was named Female Track Athlete of the Year; and WHEREAS, This exceptional young lady has also made significant contributions to her community as a youth leader at Prestonwood Baptist Church and as a teacher with Awana Club International and Vacation Bible School; in addition, she enjoys working with younger students in track and field to help them achieve their athletic potential; and WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Laubenberg has enjoyed the love and support of her proud parents, State Representative Jodie Laubenberg and Bob Laubenberg, as well as her brother, David Laubenberg; and WHEREAS, Ms. Laubenberg possesses the qualities of dedication and selflessness, reflecting the best that our state's young people have to offer, and it is indeed appropriate that she be honored at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Elizabeth Laubenberg on her athletic achievements and extend to her best wishes for success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Laubenberg as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
