R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Doug and Reta Lain of Waco marked a significant milestone in their life together on May 7, 2006, when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at Park Lake Drive Baptist Church in Waco; and WHEREAS, United in matrimony on May 4, 1956, in Cleburne, Mr. and Mrs. Lain have shared an enduring union blessed with one son, Roger Dale Lain; through the years, they have welcomed into their family grandchildren Lindsay Harkins and her husband, Mike, Roger Dale Lain, Jr., and Austin Lorenzen, as well as five great-grandchildren, Alaina Wilson and Vanessa, Carley, Maria, and Matthew Harkins; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lain, a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served in the Korean War, worked for Hercules for 33 years, and Mrs. Lain has been an Avon representative for more than 40 years; they are both members of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church, where she has been the senior adult committee chair for 30 years; and WHEREAS, For more than half a century, this devoted couple have built a strong bond of love and mutual respect, filling their life together with many happy times and cherished family memories, and it is a pleasure to honor them at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Doug and Reta Lain on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lain as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
