R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Friendswood High School captured first place at the 2006 UIL State 4A Academic Meet and took third place in the UIL State 4A One-Act Play Meet on May 4-6, 2006, on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, Friendswood dominated the competition, garnering an impressive 166.50 points in the categories of journalism, speech and debate, math and science, language arts, business education, computer science, and social studies and in one-act play competition; and WHEREAS, School teams took first place in computer science and spelling/vocabulary and second place in science; the school's one-act play, "A Man for All Seasons," took third place, and Paul Stuart and Daniel Bevan were named to the competition's all-star cast; other winners include Evan Glasgow, Chris Cotter, Chris Wiley, Justin Ogden, Richard Arduengo, Gabe Cuadra, Kieran Fitzgerald, Chris Wolff, Chris Burchsted, Michelle Klumpyan, Travis Urban, and Ryan Buckley; team sponsors are Conny Moran, Annette Walter, Melissa Victorick, Vicki Hartzell, Kathy Powdrell, Andrea Lee, and Pepper Smith; and WHEREAS, These talented individuals and their faculty sponsors are a source of great pride to the students, teachers, and staff of Friendswood High School, and their exceptional performances at the 2006 UIL State Academic and One-Act Play Meets will undoubtedly be an important memory throughout the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby recognize the members of the Friendswood High School academic team and one-act play cast and commend these students on their impressive showing at the 2006 UIL State 4A Academic and One-Act Play Meets; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Friendswood High School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
