H.R. No. 746


R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ryan Sullivan of Austin was awarded his juris doctor degree from the University of Houston Law School on May 12, 2006, marking a notable milestone in his already accomplished life; and WHEREAS, A native of Michigan, Mr. Sullivan graduated from Nouvel Catholic Central High School in Saginaw and received his bachelor's degree with distinction from the University of Michigan, where he studied English literature and creative writing; following graduation, he worked in Chicago with the public relations firms of Golin-Harris Communications and Edelman Worldwide before moving to the Capitol City in 1999 to pursue a master's degree in library and information science from The University of Texas at Austin; and WHEREAS, After earning his master's degree, Mr. Sullivan set his sights on a law degree and enrolled at the University of Houston Law Center; while there, he decided to concurrently pursue a degree in public health from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health and was selected as a Health Law Fellow by the University of Houston Health Law and Policy Center; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sullivan briefly put his studies on hold to accept a policy analyst position with the House Committee on Human Services in 2004, and his expertise and talents were of great benefit during the committee's work on the crisis in the state's protective services programs; he was named the clerk of the House Committee on Government Reform for the 79th Regular Session and now serves as Chairman Carlos I. Uresti's chief of staff; and WHEREAS, Despite his myriad responsibilities, Mr. Sullivan finished his law degree as a guest student at The University of Texas at Austin; he looks forward to continuing to work with the legislature, and he also plans to complete his studies for his public health degree; and WHEREAS, Ryan Sullivan is a man committed to excellence in all his endeavors, and this quality will undoubtedly serve him well in whatever new challenges he undertakes; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Ryan Sullivan on obtaining his law degree and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Sullivan as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
