R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Those Texans who live for a century or longer are
among the Lone Star State's most valuable resources, and their
wisdom and experience immeasurably enrich the lives of their fellow
citizens; and
WHEREAS, Herminia Rodriguez is one such individual, and she
was honored at the 9th Annual Centenarian Program held at the Marble
Arch in Mercedes, an event that was organized by the Social Security
Administration and the Area Agency on Aging; and
WHEREAS, Born April 28, 1905, in San Francisco, Tamaulipas,
Mexico, to Florencio Rodriguez and Nieves Gutierrez, Mrs. Rodriguez
married Euticio Garcia; she became the mother of five children and
shared in the joy of welcoming 18 grandchildren, 21
great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild into her
family; Mrs. Rodriguez has dedicated herself to her home and family
and loves to make paper roses and crochet; and
WHEREAS, In celebrating men and women whose lives span 100
years or more, we pay tribute to an inspiring group of senior
citizens and their vital connection to our shared history; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Herminia
Rodriguez as an honoree of the 9th Annual Centenarian Program and
extend to her sincere best wishes; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Rodriguez as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
