R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Houston is marking a half-century in service to the residents of the Bayou City with its 50th Year Jubilee to be held on August 26, 2006; and WHEREAS, Founded in July 1956, the church began in the home of the Reverend W. R. Hancock with six members; by 1958, the congregation acquired its first building, and under the leadership of Reverend Hancock, continued to grow and thrive; and WHEREAS, Today, the members of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church are led by the Reverend Nelson LaFleur, who has ably served the body since Reverend Hancock's passing in 1985; they built a new sanctuary in 1995 and continue to benefit their community through an outreach program and street ministry; and WHEREAS, For half a century, Fellowship Missionary Baptist has served as a source of strength and inspiration to those who have worshiped there, and the church stands as a tribute to the faith and dedication of its members, past and present, who have devoted their time, prayers, and resources to ensure its continued existence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate all associated with the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church on its 50th Year Jubilee and extend to them best wishes for many more years of meaningful worship together; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
