R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Julio Devora of El Paso has been named the salutatorian of the 2006 graduating class at Cathedral High School; and WHEREAS, Earning the right to call oneself salutatorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; he must display a firm understanding of the entire curriculum, from math and science to language arts and social studies, while demonstrating an unwavering commitment to educational excellence; and WHEREAS, Such an exemplary young person serves as a role model and leads by example; the competition for this coveted honor is often fierce, although the spirit of the rivalry remains rooted in a tradition of goodwill, and the rewards of the countless hours of study and preparation are myriad; and WHEREAS, Mr. Devora was a four-year football player, earning the most valuable player accolade in his junior year, as well as a four-year member of the track team; he belonged to the National Honor Society and was a Lasallian Youth community service member; Mr. Devora will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he will undoubtedly continue on his path to a rewarding future; and WHEREAS, Mr. Devora has earned the respect and admiration of his friends and classmates at Cathedral High School, and as he embraces a future bright with promise, it is most fitting that he be commended for his exceptional achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Julio Devora on being named the 2006 salutatorian at Cathedral High School in El Paso and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Devora as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
