R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Homer K. Taylor has rendered outstanding service to
Texas State Technical College during his notable 36-year tenure;
and
WHEREAS, Hired in July 1970 as assistant manager of the
Rolling Plains Extension of the James Connally Campus, Mr. Taylor
was the second employee to join the school in its efforts to serve
the technical training needs of West Texas; and
WHEREAS, His dedication, experience, and unyielding interest
in technology in the workplace led to his promotion to manager of
instruction in 1973; he went on to hold a number of leadership
positions through the years, and as manager of development, he
oversaw the highest level of enrollment in the history of the
Sweetwater Campus; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor's efforts were vital in the establishment
and expansion of TSTC West Texas Centers in Abilene, Breckenridge,
and Brownwood, and in 1999, he became president of TSTC West Texas;
and
WHEREAS, Under his capable guidance, the school added new
dormitories and instructional and laboratory facilities, while
establishing a reputation as a provider of the highest quality
technical education and training for the state's business and
industry; and
WHEREAS, In 2004, Mr. Taylor was named vice chancellor of
opportunity development, and today he has the distinction of being
the longest-serving employee in the history of TSTC West Texas; and
WHEREAS, Through his steadfast leadership, wise counsel, and
firm commitment to the mission of TSTC, Mr. Taylor has ably served
the institution and this state, and he has earned the gratitude of
countless Texans; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Homer K. Taylor for
his service to Texas State Technical College and extend to him
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Taylor as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
