R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, David Lionel Vetter of Kerrville is celebrating his 
80th birthday on May 21, 2006, marking a significant milestone in 
his long and fruitful life; and
	WHEREAS, Born on Vashon Island, Washington, in 1926, Mr. 
Vetter grew up in Kansas and San Antonio, graduated from high school 
in Houston, and went on to attend the University of Houston; and
	WHEREAS, He married Ruth Atkinson on February 6, 1948, and 
their family has since grown to include four children, Donna Vetter 
Cosgrove, Michael Vetter and his wife, Jeanette, Bob Vetter and his 
wife, Leann, and Patti Vetter Goforth and her husband, Jim, as well 
as many grandchildren; and
	WHEREAS, This veteran of the U.S. Navy held a distinguished 
35-year career with the United States Postal Service; a resident of 
Kerrville since 1983, Mr. Vetter has demonstrated a heartfelt 
commitment to his fellow citizens, whether mentoring youth through 
his involvement with the Boy Scouts, serving the congregations of 
Hunt and Park Place United Methodist Churches, or working with the 
Ingram ISD Friends and Faculty, the West Kerr County Chamber of 
Commerce, or Kerrville Alliance Familial; and
	WHEREAS, The birthday of David Vetter offers a fitting 
opportunity to salute this notable Texan for the countless ways in 
which he has enhanced the lives of others; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor David Lionel Vetter 
on his 80th birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for 
continued happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Vetter as an expression of high regard by the Texas 
House of Representatives.
