R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Honorable Carter Casteel has served the citizens of District 73 with dedication and integrity during her accomplished tenure in the Texas House of Representatives; and WHEREAS, Elected in 2002 to represent Bandera, Comal, Gillespie, and Kendall Counties, Representative Casteel currently serves the house as a member of the Committees on County Affairs, Transportation, and Local and Consent Calendars; the House Committees on Government Reform and Rules and Resolutions have also benefited from her valuable participation; and WHEREAS, This esteemed legislator has long been devoted to public service; a former chair of the New Braunfels Parks and Recreation board and the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce board of directors, she has also volunteered her time to the Comal County United Way board of directors, the Comal County Crime Stoppers board of directors, the Habitat for Humanity advisory board, and the Teen Connection board of directors, which she served as president; in addition, Representative Casteel has been a member of the Texas Legislative Conference Advisory Committee and was appointed by Governor Clements to the Comal County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention board; and WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas, she earned a master's degree from Southwest Texas State University and went on to earn a law degree from St. Mary's School of Law; she enjoyed nearly two decades of service as a public school teacher and since 1985 has been a partner at Casteel and Casteel, P.L.L.C.; and WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished tenure as a member of this chamber, Representative Casteel has consistently endeavored to create a brighter future for the citizens of the state, and it is most appropriate that her considerable efforts be recognized at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Honorable Carter Casteel for her many years of dedicated service to her constituents and to the citizens of Texas and extend to her best wishes for happiness and success in the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Representative Casteel as an expression of highest regard by her colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
