R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Texas State Representative Bob Griggs is retiring from the Texas Legislature, and it is indeed fitting at this time to reflect on his service to the people of Texas; and WHEREAS, First elected to the House in 2003, Dr. Griggs has distinguished himself as a thoughtful and effective legislator, and his consensus-building abilities have greatly benefited both constituents and colleagues; and WHEREAS, His background in education and school administration earned him assignment to the Committee on Public Education, and subsequently the Select Committee on Public School Finance and the Joint Working Group on School Finance, where his professional experience was an enormous asset; and WHEREAS, During his two terms in the Texas House, Dr. Griggs also served as vice chair on the Committee on Border and International Affairs, and in the 79th Legislature he also served as a member of the Pensions and Investments Committee; and WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of the community, Dr. Griggs has been accorded numerous honors, including being named a Northeast Leadership Forum Distinguished Community Leader and the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce Community Leader of the Year, and he also received Abilene Christian University's Distinguished Alumni Award; and WHEREAS, As he looks forward to spending more time with his family, Dr. Griggs may take pride in his efforts as a state representative and community leader; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby honor Dr. Bob Griggs on the occasion of his retirement from the Texas Legislature and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Griggs as an expression of high regard by his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
