R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Dominique Whitehead, a senior at West Oso High 
School in Corpus Christi, has earned a place in the  annals of high 
school sports history by winning the Class 3A state discus title; 
and
	WHEREAS, In April, Mr. Whitehead had a then-personal best 
throw of 174 feet, 4 inches at the District 31-3A track meet; two 
weeks later, he won the Region IV-3A title with a throw of 162 feet, 
6 inches; and
	WHEREAS, Competing in the state championship at Mike A. Myers 
Stadium in Austin, Mr. Whitehead unleashed a throw of 175 feet, 11 
inches on his first attempt, which put him in second place; he 
scratched on his next two attempts but followed up by launching a 
154 feet, 9 inches throw on his fourth attempt and a 176 feet, 3 
inches throw on his final attempt to claim the coveted Class 3A 
state crown; and
	WHEREAS, Mr. Whitehead possesses the talent, athleticism, 
and dedication of a true champion, and his performance at the 3A 
state championship track meet illustrates the impressive skill he 
has achieved in his sport; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 79th Texas 
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dominique 
Whitehead for winning the Class 3A state discus title and extend to 
him best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 
prepared for Mr. Whitehead as an expression of high regard by the 
Texas House of Representatives.
