S.C.R. No. 2  




SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Eleanor Goode Brune, who died November 17, 2005, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, Born January 1, 1927, in San Antonio, Eleanor attended the Hockaday School and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin; she also attended the Worden School of Social Work at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio; and WHEREAS, Eleanor was active in numerous social work programs in San Antonio; she organized the Volunteer Service Bureau, worked with blind children, and offered assistance at the Guadalupe Community Center; and WHEREAS, From 1950 until 1956, Eleanor served as National Committeewoman of the Young Republican Federation of Texas; she was also a Lady Grand Cross of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and she made a personal pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 1989; and WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, Eleanor gave generously to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 79th Legislature of the State of Texas, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Eleanor Goode Brune: her husband of more than 48 years, David H. Brune; her daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Bradford Sandbach and Elizabeth Hark and Edward L. Hark III; and her five grandchildren and great-grandson; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of her family as an expression of profound sympathy from the Texas Legislature, and that when the legislature adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Eleanor Goode Brune.
