SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 53
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Donald R. Grobowsky, who has been named chairman of the
Texas Bankers Association for 2006-2007; and
WHEREAS, Chairman and chief executive officer of First
State Bank Central Texas, Donald Grobowsky belongs to a family of
bankers; his father was an officer at the former Austin National
Bank, and his brother is a former chairman of the Texas Bankers
Association; and
WHEREAS, Donald began his banking career working
part-time at Austin National Bank while still a student at
The University of Texas at Austin; after earning his degree in
business administration, he joined the Office of the Comptroller
of the Currency, where he served as a national bank examiner for
nearly seven years; and
WHEREAS, He then gained valuable banking experience and
expertise through working in his profession in Houston, Temple,
and Waco; in 1987, he purchased First State Bank in Chilton and
moved the charter to Temple; and
WHEREAS, Under his leadership, First State Bank Central
Texas has grown from $4 million in deposits to $622 million in
deposits, $757 million in total assets, and $63 million in
equity; and
WHEREAS, As chairman of the Texas Bankers Association,
Donald will help to further the association's mission of
supporting its members through education, information, and
advocacy; this outstanding organization is dedicated to
maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the banking industry and to
helping its members with their specific needs; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Grobowsky will be sworn in as the new chairman
at the association's 122nd annual convention on May 12, 2006, at
the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend
congratulations to Donald Grobowsky on being named chairman of
the Texas Bankers Association; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
