SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 70
In Memory
of
Betty Eloise Ford Goodman
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Laredo in mourning the loss of Betty Eloise Ford Goodman, who
died March 31, 2006, at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, Betty was born June 6, 1922, to William C. and
Eloise Ford in San Antonio, and she attended Southern Methodist
University during World War II; she married Andre L. Goodman on
June 8, 1947; and
WHEREAS, Betty was a woman of many interests, including
cooking, gardening, and collecting antiques; she taught Sunday
school at Christ Church Episcopal Church and was a member of the
Altar Guild Society for many years; and
WHEREAS, Sole heir of one of the only two known surviving
tea chests from the Boston Tea Party, Betty was a member of the
Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the
Republic of Texas; and
WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and
great-grandmother, Betty leaves behind memories that will be
cherished forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Betty Eloise Ford Goodman:
her children, Jenel Cade Goodman, Adrienne G. Treviño,
Andre Lucien Goodman, Jr., Shelley G. Henson, and William K. Goodman;
and her nine grandchildren and her great-grandson; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of her family as an expression of profound sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Betty Eloise Ford Goodman.
