SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 75


In Memory

of

Elias Torrez III


	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and 
commemorates the life of Lance Corporal Elias Torrez III, who 
died April 9, 2004, at the age of 21, while serving his country in 
Iraq; and

	WHEREAS, Born January 28, 1983, Elias was fulfilling his 
lifelong goal of serving as a Marine; he was assigned to the
3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division; and

	WHEREAS, Elias was killed when his unit came under intense 
fire near the Iraqi city of Sa'dah; his bravery during this 
engagement was an inspiration to all those who served with him; 
and

	WHEREAS, Elias exhibited steadfast resolve and 
selflessness in the performance of his duties; his courage and 
devotion to duty exemplified his unwavering determination and 
patriotism; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere 
condolences to the bereaved family of Elias Torrez III; and, be 
it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy 
from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, 
it do so in memory of Elias Torrez III.
