SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 76
In Memory
of
Israel Garza
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
of Lubbock in mourning the loss of Specialist Israel Garza, who
died April 4, 2004, at the age of 25, while serving his country in
Iraq; and
WHEREAS, Born June 29, 1978, in Lubbock, Israel attended
Frenship High School; he married Guadalupe Silva on March 31, 2001,
and joined the United States Army on September 27, 2001; he was
assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry
Division, based at Fort Hood; and
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and
women whose love for their country inspires them to take up
military service, yet the tragic death of this exemplary young
man is a sobering reminder of the cost of war; and
WHEREAS, Israel was a devoted husband, father, son, and
brother whose loyalty, compassion, and love of life were an
inspiration to all who knew him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of Israel Garza; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the members of his family as an expression of profound sympathy
from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
day, it do so in memory of Israel Garza.
