SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 77
In Memory
of
Rick Salas, Jr.
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Private First Class Rick Salas, Jr., who died March 7, 2006, at the age of 22, while serving his country in Iraq; and WHEREAS, Born October 19, 1983, Rick Salas graduated from Graham High School and was active in a Boy Scout troop in Graham; in 1999, he joined the Job Corps, where he became a leader after 12 months; and WHEREAS, Rick enlisted in the United States Army in January of 2005 and was assigned to Company C, 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, based in Friedberg, Germany; and WHEREAS, Rick sacrificed his life serving his country, and his devotion to duty and selfless service exemplify his resolve and patriotism; and WHEREAS, Rick was a devoted husband and father whose loyalty, compassion for others, and love of life were truly inspirational; he leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Private First Class Rick Salas, Jr.: his wife, April; his son, Jarrod; his daughter, Jordon; his father, Ric Salas, Sr.; his mother, Brenda Robertson; his brothers, Roger, Daniel, and Randy Salas; his sister, Melissa Gutierrez; and his grandparents, Francis Salas and Eliseo Salas, Sr., and Carrol and Eunice Robertson; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Rick Salas, Jr. Duncan ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on April 27, 2006, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
