SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 119

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Dr. Michael G. Killian, who is retiring as deputy 
superintendent of the Lewisville Independent School District 
after 24 years of loyal service to the district and 36 years of 
service in the field of education; and
	WHEREAS, As deputy superintendent of the district,
Dr. Killian has directed the planning, development, 
administration, curriculum, and instruction for all school-based 
programs; the district consists of five high schools, one 
ninth-grade center, 14 middle schools, 37 elementary schools, 
and one early childhood center and has approximately 48,000 
students, 5,600 teachers, and 190 administrators; and
	WHEREAS, During his tenure, Dr. Killian has exemplified 
the highest level of professionalism; his intellect, 
trustworthiness, and leadership have been an inspiration to 
other administrators, and his commitment to ensuring the 
educational development of all children has been evident in his 
decision making and innovative programs; and
	WHEREAS, Dr. Killian's articles on education have been 
published in a number of journals, and he has made numerous 
presentations before professional groups; he is a highly 
respected educational leader, and his presence in the Lewisville 
Independent School District will be greatly missed; now, 
therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend
Dr. Michael G. Killian for his exemplary educational leadership 
and his many contributions to the Lewisville Independent School 
District and the educational system of this state and extend to 
him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
