SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 130
In Memory
of
W. G. Ragley
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
citizens of Plano in mourning the loss of noted Republican Party
leader and longtime banker W. G. "Buddy" Ragley, who died
April 26, 2006, at the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, Buddy Ragley was born in Dallas on October 5, 1932,
and graduated from Jesuit High School; a graduate of the Southern
Methodist University School of Banking, he had a banking career
that spanned more than 40 years in Dallas, Plano, and Euless and
in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Las Cruces, New Mexico; he had been a
mortgage banker since 1994; and
WHEREAS, He was active in the Republican Party for
more than 50 years in three states; he became involved with the
party in Collin County in the 1980s, and served as party chair
from 1998 to 2001, helping to build the Collin County Republican
Party into one of the most effective groups in the nation; in
2005, he with his wife Dotty received the party's highest honor,
the John King McVeigh Award; and
WHEREAS, A gentleman of great strength and confidence,
Buddy Ragley will long be remembered by all who knew him for his
wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel; and
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves
behind memories that will be treasured by his family and many
friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of W. G. Ragley: his wife of
50 years, Dotty, and his daughter and son-in-law, Maribeth and
Brian Cullen; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of W. G. Ragley.
