SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 149
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Charles H. "Pete" Hollingsworth for his 50 years of
service as a minister of the gospel; and
WHEREAS, Brother Pete was called to the ministry in May of
1956; he began the preparation for his life of service at Bible
Baptist Seminary in Springfield, Missouri, where he served as
pastor to a small rural church while attending school; and
WHEREAS, Brother Pete continued to seek the knowledge he
would need to guide a congregation; he earned bachelor's degrees
in Biblical studies and in ministries from Southern Baptist
College for Biblical Studies; and
WHEREAS, Over the last 50 years, Brother Pete has ministered
faithfully to the spiritual needs of innumerable people; he has
been pastor of Calvary Baptist Temple in Mount Vernon since May of
1979; and
WHEREAS, Inspirational and dedicated to helping others,
this beloved pastor has devoted his time and energy unselfishly
to all who have sought his counsel; and
WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion, Brother Pete
has performed countless ceremonies and has prayed for and guided
his church members in times of hardship and bereavement and in
times of joy and celebration; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby join the members of
the Calvary Baptist Temple in commending Charles H. Hollingsworth
for 50 years of dedicated service to the ministry; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
