SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 152
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
recognizing Marie Carter on the grand occasion of the celebration
of her 80th birthday on May 6, 2006; and
WHEREAS, Marie Carter is an exemplary and distinguished
lady who is known for her warmth and sense of humor; she is
beloved and respected by her family and friends and is noted for
her compassion and generosity; and
WHEREAS, Marie was one of five children born to R.A. and
Lula Duty Johnson; after raising her four children, Frieda,
Lynda, Doug, and Steve, she earned a bachelor's degree and taught
school in Kentucky for 20 years; she moved to Cleveland in 1984
and taught kindergarten for five years until her retirement; she
then served as a volunteer at the Cleveland Regional Medical
Center for 14 years; and
WHEREAS, Marie Carter is a source of strength to others,
and her birthday is an appropriate time for all who know her to
express their admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend
Marie Carter on her accomplishments and extend congratulations
to her on the joyous occasion of her 80th birthday; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of best wishes from the Texas Senate.
